On May 29, 2012 Law Faculty students met and attended public lecture of the Ministry of Corrections and Legal Assistance of Georgia and the Head of the Legal Provision Department, the Doctor of Law Giorgi Goradze.

Mr. Goradze talked about the implemented reforms in the structure and about the innovations planned for the future. The guest informed the students about the existing statistics in the system. He talked about the inmates, among them juveniles, women, probationers and the total number of pardoned in the penalty system. The guest also talked about the fact that in the N5 women's prison the library is being built, renovated stadium; Legal Assistance office was opened in Tsalka, there were organized infrastructure for licensed institutions and medical shop, the methadone program was established in N 1 Kutaisi institution and etc. He said that the conditions will be improved in future.

There will not be limited for appearance in definite probation office for the person in custody, because the condemned based on the application will be able to leave the city, and pass the due registration in another probation office. Free video meeting room will be arranged for socially vulnerable people; system of sending parcel by mail has already been installed; the building of the new penalty institution is planned for the nearest future in Ozurgeti in Laituri and etc.

The guest also talked about the legislative changes implemented in the system. Mr. Giorgi Goradze touched the issue of infrastructure development and he said that the new building will be built for prisoners with tuberculosis disease, the building of public reception at the N8 institution, there were already implemented a long time dates in some institutions etc.

At the end of the meeting Mr. Giorgi Goradze answered students' questions.
